Meet Tre Johnson

I’m Tre Johnson, a guard for the Washington Wizards from Garland, TX. In 2026, I was selected for the NBA All-Star Rising Stars Game. I had the highest-scoring debut by a Wizards rookie since 1992 when I entered the league in 2025. I’ve been obsessed with the game for as long as I can remember, and every stop in my journey—from Lake Highlands, Link Academy, The University of Texas, to the NBA—has helped shape who I am as a player.

I attended Lake Highlands High School from my freshman through junior year, where I led the team to the Texas 6A State Championship as a junior and was named State Championship MVP. During my time there, I was also named Texas Mr. Basketball. For my senior season, I made the decision to attend Link Academy, a pivotal step in my development and exposure to elite national competition. At Link, I was named a McDonald's All-American Game selection, earned Missouri Mr. Basketball honors, and helped lead the program to the Final Four of the national tournament.

At The University of Texas, I averaged nearly 20 points per game, set the program’s freshman scoring record with 39 points (passing Kevin Durant), and was named SEC Freshman of the Year before hearing my name called with the sixth pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Whether it’s time in the gym, time in the community, or time with my family, I’m focused on making an impact and continuing to grow every day. I’m a competitor, a student of the game, a son, a brother, and someone who believes in giving back.
